We make up every excuse to go to Ten Ichi Mart in Cobble Hill. Dinner in the area? Probably makes sense to stop in for a pre-dinner treat of tender pork buns, and shrimp-tempura stuffed onigiri. No dinner plans yet? May as well swing by to pick up some sushi-grade salmon for a DIY sushi night. The Japanese market, which also has a locations in Williamsburg and Flatiron, sells high-quality takeout sushi, onigiri, and hot prepared foods like pork buns, and chicken karaage. Most importantly, all the sushi and prepared foods are half-off after 8pm, which means you can get rolls for around $5 each, and then go home and have a magnificently priced weeknight dinner. This is not a secret—a short line usually starts forming around 7:45 or earlier.
