When you need to shut out the world and have some delicious Nepali and Indian comfort food, head to Himalayan Heritage in Adams Morgan. The curries are packed with bold and peppery flavors that'll have you doing somersaults to keep the restaurant’s pristine white tablecloths clean (a game you’ll lose). The dim restaurant is one of the few non-cafes on 18th Street open for lunch, so it’s an excellent option for a solo break from work. Opt for the sweet butter chicken and an endless stream of garlicky naan. But leave your phone on DND so you can truly enjoy the quiet, lightly incensed dining room.
