tokyo Reviews
Stand T Bar
Stand T is a very casual and simple place where you can grab a beer and have some snacks. It also has a cool view of the old Tokyo train station.
Gen Yamamoto
Gen Yamato is a modern cocktail bar that focuses on local, seasonal, and fresh Japanese ingredients to create unique cocktails.
Blue Dragon
Golden Gai is a full-blown neighborhood of mini themed bars all stacked on top of each other. Blue Dragon is one of our favorites.
Bar North Marine Drive
Bar North Marine Drive is a record bar in Shibuya where the bartenders take their drinks and music (which is usually American) very seriously.
Goss
Ever wanted to have wine served to you from a vending machine? Head to Goss. It sounds touristy, but we promise it’s not.
Mawashizushi Katsu
Mawashizushi Katsu is our pick for conveyor belt sushi. Don’t let the line intimidate you-it will go quickly.
Magurodonya Miura Misakiko
Head to Magurodonya Miura Misakiko while you're sightseeing around Ueno for quality conveyor belt sushi. We promise it isn't corny.
Sushi Ishii
Sushi Ishii is one of our favorite spots for a nicer meal that’s still reasonable. Bonus points for the chef being entertaining and very accommodating.
Umi
You're going to drop $300 on a Michelin-starred meal at Umi, and the experience will be worth it.
Sushi Tomita
If you forgot to make a reservation at a more well-known sushi spot, Sushi Tomita has your back. If you have group, try to get into the private room.
Afuri
Afuri is a counter spot for yuzu-based ramen. The broth here is light, but the pork is perfectly smoky.
Gonokami Seisakujo
Gonokami Seisakujyo is hard to find, but the perfectly thick tsukemen noodles are worth the effort.
Nodaiwa
Nodaiwa is an old-school spot known for their excellent unagi (eel). It's a great option for a nicer meal that won't empty your bank account.
Udon Yamacho
Yamacho is a perfect spot for a casual udon lunch. The noodles are great, and the smooth jazz soundtrack doesn't hurt either.
