Vivace has the best coffee in SLU. Plus, they have a nice bar that faces the window, so if you work in the area, instead of grabbing some fruit from the free banana stand to procrastinate, come here and people watch instead. Even though the Capitol Hill location is more vibrant, this one’s great if you want to meet up with your friends who are in town.
We avoid superlatives, but Vivace on Capitol Hill probably makes the best espresso in the city.

Mr. West Cafe is an attractive espresso bar and all day cafe with substantial food Downtown.
Bakery Nouveau is an excellent Capitol Hill bakery we like most for the twice baked almond croissant and croque monsieur.
