Ananas Pizzeria
Ananas Pizzeria in First Hill is the pizza brainchild of the team behind Lao staple Taurus Ox. That means you’ll find pies topped with everything from pepperoni to pork crumbles typically used in Lao khao soi. And while this place doesn’t quite compete with pizzerias in other parts of town, it’s the most exciting thing to happen to the neighborhood full of hospitals and $300k studio apartments. Especially if you’re in the market for a weekday group dinner or midnight slices with a beer.
The most successful pizzas dive off the deep end a bit, like the namesake Ananas with pineapple, togarashi, and thick ham. Or the tangy Lao pie with bamboo shoots, provolone, lardon, and enough fresh dill to kickstart a pickling side hustle. Just don’t toss out the crusts, which are brushed with garlic butter and taste great dunked in single-serve cups of Ken’s ranch. There’s no better place to grab a slice between the hours of 5pm and 1am in First Hill.
