Maíz Picante is a modern taquería in Oak Park that you can take anyone to—mostly because they offer a bit of everything. There's an entirely vegan menu for plant-based folks, hearty entrees like cheese enchiladas, and over a dozen varieties of street tacos. Our favorites are the plant-based asada that's juicy with a nice char, as well as the costra al pastor with a crackly, chewy cheese crust. Make sure to get one of the housemade cucumber-pineapple agua frescas as well because it's tart, refreshing, and the perfect thing to chug after cooking in the Santa Barbara sun.
