The Victorian ambience and train-station-themed decor here give Whitechapel a little bit of a Platform 9 ¾ feel, but that's OK with us. It’s a unique bar set-up, with a rounded ceiling reminiscent of a subway tunnel. More importantly, there are over 600 gins - allegedly the largest selection in North America - so think of this as a place for serious drinkers that manages not to take itself too seriously.
Comstock Saloon is an old-school spot in North Beach serving great food and cocktails. Get the brussels sprouts.
Local Edition on the line between Soma and the Financial District is a newspaper themed bar. They have a long spirits list and make great cocktails.
The Treasury is an upscale bar in the Financial District with craft cocktails great for drinks with a date.
Pagan Idol is a tiki bar in the Financial District. Their tropical drinks and atmosphere are good for a group hangout.
