Las Delicias is a Downtown Berkeley restaurant featuring Salvadoran classics like pupusas, corn tamales, yucca frita, and incredibly light pastelitos de carne (empanadas stuffed with minced meat and veggies). They also have Mexican staples like tacos and burritos, too. Everything here is flavorful and reasonably priced for the large portions. Some must-orders: the hearty pupusas with fresh curtido, and the churrasco salvadoreño, a massive mixed plate that includes grilled flank steak, a delicious chorizo, casamiento (rice and beans), and two super thick corn tortillas. Whatever you get, don’t leave without trying their empanadas de plátano de leche - fried mashed plantain balls filled with milk, sugar, and cinnamon.
