6 New Things To Do & Eat In San Francisco This Week

It’s Tuesday, which means it’s time for another edition of our guide to the most exciting things to do and eat in SF right now. This week’s roundup includes a shawarma and hot chicken collab, a new brewery in Mission Bay, the grand reopening of a Marina bar, and more.
Every Thursday and Friday in May, stop by Shawarmaji in Oakland. They’ve teamed up with World Famous Hotboys to make a chicken shawarma wrap with garlic toum, cucumber pickles, coleslaw, and World Famous Hotboys’ creamy, house-made “money” sauce and rub on top. This is the power collab you didn’t know you needed.
If it’s been 14 months too long since you last rode a mechanical bull, you’re in luck. The Western-themed bar in the Marina is having their grand reopening on Wednesday, May 12th. And yes, the bull will be there. Moving forward, they’ll also have weekly specials like $6 wings on Wednesdays, live country music on Thursdays, and bottomless mimosas at brunch on weekends.
Drool is an SF pastry pop-up that does monthly-changing boxes filled with assorted desserts, like the “Thick Mint” (a chocolate brownie on top of a mint sable cookie and dipped in chocolate) or a linzer-inspired strawberry tart. They have a few boxes left for this week that you can order on Tock for pick-up or delivery on Saturday, May 15th.
On May 11th, BBQ pop-up Smokin D’s will be collaborating with Molcaxitl Kitchen for a special Taco Tuesday menu featuring smoked brisket and mole tacos, as well as other types of tacos from Molcaxitl’s regular menu. It’s all going down at the Sunset Wellness Mercantile, an outdoor community space on 37th Ave., from 12-7pm (it’s BYOB, and there will be live music all afternoon). If you miss out on Tuesday’s event, you can catch Smokin D’s BBQ at Chug Pub on Wednesday May 13th, and Molcaxitl at the Outer Sunset Farmers’ Market on Sundays.
Last week, Harmonic Brewing opened their second location at Thrive City by the Chase Center. Head over to their massive outdoor patio (they also have indoor seating) and soak up bay views with a pint of beer, or catch a Warriors game - they’ll be showing all home and away games. Harmonic will also serve pizzas, soft pretzels, bagel dogs and more from nearby Neighbor Bakehouse.
Formerly the SoMa StrEat Food Park, District Six is an open-air space that hosts weekly events with live music and food trucks. This weekend, they have a Friday night market featuring tons of local vendors, food trucks like Pink’s Shrimp Shack and Naked Chicken, and a DJ, and similar events on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free, but you can reserve a table for $25 ahead of time here.
