If you’re reading this guide, you probably enjoy making plans that involve eating or drinking. That’s why we’re highlighting five exciting new openings, pop-ups, and special events to get into this week. This week’s edition of this guide includes hand-packed ice cream and a traveling Japanese sandwich pop-up you need to check out.
Sando Itchi is a pop-up that travels from city to city - they were most recently in New Orleans, and will be in SF until May 8th. This means you have limited time to get your hands on their Japanese sandwiches filled with things like egg salad, hot chicken katsu, or fruit and cream. Check their Instagram for instructions on how to order (pick up is at Trademark Sports Bar & Eatery in SoMa).
Almost three years after closing their food truck to focus on launching a brick-and-mortar, Sanguchon is back with a permanent spot in the Mission, which opened last weekend. At the Peruvian street food spot, you can order everything from a lomo saltado sandwich to pork belly skewers - and wash it all down with cocktails, beer, and wine.
ICYMI, Liholiho Yacht Club has temporarily relocated to Dear Inga’s space in the Mission, and is easing back into dine-in service for the first time in over a year. According to their Instagram, they have three sit-down tables for now - and reservations are on their way. So swing by to grab an order of their excellent poke or steam buns. This week, Liholiho Yacht Club also brought back their beloved breakfast sandwich with house-made spam, egg, and cheese, which is now available for dinner Wednesday-Saturday.
There’s a new small-batch ice cream spot in town - this one’s located on Solano Ave in Albany, and its grand opening is Friday, April 23rd from 12-8pm. This week, Randy’s has flavors like Meyer lemon lavender, passion guava milk, and popcorn salted caramel, but expect the menu to change based on what’s in season locally. Keep an eye on their Instagram for updates.
Sandy’s is a new-ish sandwich pop-up from the people behind Bread Spread Pickle. They’re now focusing on New Orleans-style muffuletta sandwiches stuffed with soppressata, mortadella, prosciutto, provolone, and olive salad, which is reason enough alone to check out this week’s pop-up at Fool’s Errand on Sunday, April 25th. Pre-order on their website, or walk up to order.
