The Peninsula is an upscale, old-school hotel on 55th Street where you might find some kind of business mixer going down in the lobby, and Salon De Ning is exactly the type of rooftop bar you expect to find in such a place. In other words, it's pricey, a little bit fancy, and you'll see suits of every (conservative) color here. If you need a spot to drink with your boss or a few coworkers, it's good for that. The indoor area isn't huge, but there's a big outdoor patio with a view of 5th Avenue. Just be aware that people will probably be a lot of people smoking cigars on this patio. That's a thing here.

Radiance Tea House
Radiance Tea House is a great little place to get some grub, drink a pot of tea, and maybe peruse a text about Buddhism. We find ourselves in here from time to time to do exactly that – except for the Buddhism part.
Hidden behind red velvet curtains inside Midtown's Le Parker Meridien hotel, this staged hole in the wall with eternal lines has NYC's best burger.
Everything at Kingside is overpriced and underwhelming. Spare yourself and only go if you feel like checking out the beehive of glammed-up female and single rich dude activity.

Mr. Purple is the restaurant/bar on top of Hotel Indigo on the Lower East Side. It’s a good place to grab a drink with a group, but it does get busy.
Pod 39 Rooftop Bar
The Pod 39 Rooftop Bar is a great place to grab an outdoor drink in Murray Hill. Although if you go on a weekend, expect crowds.
