In a city where Chipotle dominates the cheap Mexican game, finding a quick, quality taco isn't easy. I'm pretty sure there are pockets of greatness in the outer-boroughs, but as far as Manhattan is concerned, the pickings are pretty slim. Enter Pinche Taqueria, an Infatuation mainstay in Nolita (and now in NoHo as well) that comes in handy when you want to stuff your face on the cheap. At $2.50 per taco ($3.50 for fish), you can mix and match - plus grab a corona for under $10. Order at the counter and eat in their small storefront or on the sidewalk benches in front. Better yet, order them to the comfort of your own home and experience one of the fastest delivery operations around. Just don't order delivery online as encouraged on their website. You may never see your food.

Food Rundown

Tacos

We've pretty much sampled everything on the menu here and the tacos are the reason we keep coming back. The fish tacos have big chunks of white fish and are covered in a nice spicy mayo. The steak tacos and both pork tacos are highly recommended as well. The rolled tacos with the lettuce, cheese, guac and salsa are also really good.

Burrito

We recommend staying away from Pinche's burritos. They're not terrible - it's hard to make a bad burrito - it's just that they're not as good as the other stuff on the menu.

Quesadilla

The quesadilla is another highlight of the Pinche menu. Order it with confidence.

Yucca Fries

These are some damn good little yucca nuggets. The serving size is huge -definitely enough to share and way too much for one human to consume alone. Their homemade cilantro mayo is excellent too. A word to the wise...pass on the Mexican corn. It's no good.

Nolita

Tacombi has an awesome Mexican courtyard, and gets serious points for creativity. All in all, we back the place, especially now that they have a liquor license.

Tortaria image

Quick, specialty fast foods are something lower Manhattan now thrives on, and Tortaria deserves to be mentioned alongside their fellow low-cost, high-reward brethren. There’s a Mexican sandwich and a taquito for every palate.

Otto’s Tacos image

Otto’s Tacos is a casual East Village taco place with a simple menu, homemade tortillas, and much-needed West Coast flavor.
