Blank Cafe is a counter-service spot full of people wearing headphones and working on laptops - but its similarity to other all-day cafes ends there. This place is a block from the water in Williamsburg, and serves Japanese comfort food dishes ranging from an omelette with roe in the morning to curry udon later in the day. During Happy Hour (2-6pm daily) there are deals on beer, wine, and sake, and if you decide to take your headphones off at any point, you’ll hear music like Lou Reed and the Talking Heads.

A tiny little ramen spot on the Lower East Side, serving up some very good soups that aren't as heavy as many others.
Waiting in a line outside of any restaurant seems a bit silly to us, but Tomoe is arguably one of the best sushi restaurants in the city, as you will see by those patiently standing single file out front on most nights. And it certainly isn't the atmosphere that's got people queued up on Thompson Street. The place is a dump.
Toriko is a yakitori spot in the West Village that serves omakase menus focused on excellent grilled chicken skewers.
