Superiority Burger Shuts Down For Winter, & More NYC Restaurant Closures

Also, it’s La Newyorkina’s last weekend and By Chloe has filed for bankruptcy.

Superiority Burger announced on Friday afternoon that they’d be shutting down for the winter after their final service on Saturday. You can stop by their East Village shop from noon to 4pm for a farewell gelato and vegetarian sandwich (they always post their daily menu on Instagram here.

Perpetual Drunken B’nai Mitzvah Party, Sammy’s Roumanian Steakhouse, officially closed after 47 years on the Lower East Side. In an Instagram post earlier this week, the owners indicated that they hope to reopen Sammy’s. “We may be closed now, but when all this is over and we feel safe enough to hold hands during the hora, we will be back stronger, louder, and tastier than ever before.” Unfortunately, we’re taking such remarks with a grain of salt. We hope we’re wrong.

Mexican bakery and ice cream shop, La Newyorkina, will officially close its doors after Sunday, January 10th. You can stop by their Greenwich Village store between noon and 8pm for one last paleta or order of Mexican hot chocolate. And make sure to check out Fan Fan Doughnuts in Bed-Stuy, a new (excellent) bakery from the chef of La Newyorkina.

Paulie Gee’s in Greenpoint recently announced that they will close until indoor dining service returns. Ediths, the Jewish bagel and deli pop-up will continue to operate out of Paulie Gee’s space. If you’re looking for pizza in the area, know that Paulie Gee’s Slice Shop remains open for takeout and delivery (and that their pizza travels much better than a “Eat, Pray, Love” enthusiast.).

By Chloe has filed for bankruptcy, though, as of now, you can still order takeout and delivery from their Rockefeller Center, Williamsburg, Seaport District, Soho, and Flatiron locations.
