In a press conference on Friday, February 19th, Governor Cuomo announced the expansion of New York City’s indoor dining capacity from 25% to 35%, starting next Friday, February 26th.
He said the change mirrors New Jersey’s 35% capacity dining, and that he’ll continue monitoring NYC’s Covid rates. Cuomo maintains his position that “testing is the key to reopening,” and cited 11 new rapid testing sites opening today in NYC.
Indoor dining returned on Friday, February 12th - two days earlier than the planned Valentine’s Day reopening date he set on January 29th. You can read more about his decision to open and how restaurant workers are being vaccinated here.
