La Verídica does smokehouse barbecue with a Peruvian influence. The restaurant’s miniature ranch design makes you feel like you’re entering someone’s miniature ranch home. Their main entrees—like the churrasco a lo pobre—are a bit on the drier side for what’s supposed to be slow-smoked barbecue. And their pollo a la brasa falls short on flavor. But we really like their smaller plates like the que buenas yucas, which are puffy clouds of beef-stuffed yuca balls you’ll eat like Pac-Man. Their ají de gallina empanadas are made with huancaina sauce and are so juicy you’re going to want a Tide pen on hand. A few appetizers and one (or two) of their Peruvian beers makes for an ideal weekday meal.
