Even though new places continue to open around Miami, this is an incredibly challenging time for restaurants. The shutdown, reduced capacity, and so many other factors have forced many places to close their doors for good.
Below is a roundup of those places, though it is not a comprehensive list. By some estimates, hundreds of restaurants have closed in South Florida. These are just the ones we know about right now. It’s also worth noting that not all of these places are closed for good. Some have stated their plans to return in new spaces. We’ve indicated in parenthesis if that’s the case.
The Closures
American Harvest
Balloo (Balloo says they are working on securing a new location and will still be offering meal kits and catering)
Big Easy Wine Bar & Grill
Books and Books Lincoln Road
David’s Cafe Cafecito
Fooq’s (The Fooq’s team is opening Eleventh Street Pizza in the space)
Ghee Design District (The Dadeland location remains open)
Gregory’s Diner (The restaurant has turned into the very good Mr. Mandolin)
John Martin’s Irish Pub & Restaurant
Laid Fresh (According to their Instagram, they are “working hard to bring Laid Fresh to a new spot”)
Ortanique on the Mile
Palacio De Los Jugos (South Beach Location)
Shula’s 347
Spring Chicken
White Rose Coffee (According to their Instagram, they will be opening a new location)
Wood Tavern (Wood's last day will be March 14)
