You go to a bar, you get a little drunk, and everybody goes home. Looking to change it up? Head immediately to Plaza. The drag bar on La Brea is easily one of the best and most unique nights you can have in LA, with one of the most diverse crowds you’ll find. Despite looking like a closed-down laundromat from the outside, the space is actually quite large, with a dirt cheap (and cash only) bar, and performances throughout the night. Game changer: they give you a bag of Doritos for every drink you order.

When it comes to old standbys, El Coyote is about as accurate as that term gets. Come here for the drinks, the history, the atmosphere, the conversation, and inevitably, the sloppy walk home.
The Hart and The Hunter
The Hart and the Hunter, the all-day restaurant at the PaliHotel on Melrose, serves some very good Southern food. Go for a hangover-curing brunch.
If you’re in the neighborhood and looking for a stiff drink and a killer al pastor taco, stop into Petty Cash.
