Mangette is an aggressively charming cafe next to the wine bar Buvon’s (they share owners), with a serene backyard that feels like a garden oasis in the middle of Long Beach’s Eastside. This breezy, order-at-the-counter brunch spot focuses on simple bistro dishes that are pleasantly buttery without going overboard. There’s a classic jambon beurre, excellent basque cheesecake, and a weekend-only fried fish sandwich that's worth planning your afternoon around. Whether you’re looking for a place to post up with a laptop, have a mellow afternoon meet-up, or just take yourself on a lunch date with a good book, Mangette fits the occasion. Be sure to check out the small art gallery in the back, too.
