La La Rice is a Thai spot in West LA that doesn't believe in ugly food. Your fried rice is garnished with orchids, spring rolls are served in banana leaf cones, and you can sip on a branded coconut that looks like a welcome gift from White Lotus. It's these nice touches that help make La La a fun, kitschy Thai option on the Westside: expect solid takeout staples, plus more experimental dishes that are more uneven. The crispy wings in sticky yellow curry and a panko-crusted sole in a tangy tamarind sauce definitely work, but you can skip the gloopy panang curry with fried crab. If you're in the area and want to avoid the nightmarish parking on Sawtelle, La La Rice is a decent option with enough flair to make a casual dinner feel like an occasion.

Menya Tigre on Sawtelle serves some of the only curry ramen you’ll find in LA - and it’s incredible.
