Where we've featured it
Homage Brewing might just be the best Southern California brewery you’ve never heard of - it’s a tiny spot in Pomona serving excellent, innovative saisons, barrel-aged sours, and IPAs. They have a few tables, and somewhat random hours, so be sure to check their Instagram before you go.
If you haven’t heard of Homage yet, that won’t be the case for long. This Pomona-based spot has one of the most-interesting and well-brewed beer lists anywhere. Our favorites so far are The Beach Samba, a sour IPA with pineapple and coconut, the Starburst Peel (a hazy IPA so sweet we’d have it for dessert), and the Sundialing, a barrel-aged saison with apple juice and grape must. They don’t usually can beers, but during quarantine, they’ve got a ton of new releases each week - check their Instagram for updates, and stock up on whatever looks good. They also have a space on the way in Chinatown, so it won’t be long before they’re much closer to LA proper.
If you like being ahead of trends, we highly recommend checking out Homage Brewing in Pomona, about a half-hour east of DTLA. It’s a tiny operation in a commercial part of town, but later this year, they plan to open a space in Chinatown, and we can pretty much guarantee they’ll blow up once they’re in LA proper. Their barrel-aged saisons are the best around, and they do some extremely funky blends - like fermenting ales over grapes and apples - that result in some great, innovative options. We recommend getting here early in the day to pick up some crowlers (they tend to sell out quickly on weekends) and then heading up to Claremont Hills Wilderness Trail, for a beautiful 5-mile loop that overlooks the city of Claremont. This is also a great place to stop on your way to or from Joshua Tree.
