Following the lives of the radical Black Panther leader, Fred Hampton, and the F.B.I. informant who infiltrated his crew, Bill O’Neal, this film left me hot - upset because of the images of state-sanctioned violence against Black people on screen (something that has barely changed since the film’s setting in the late 1960s), mad because, just like real life, there was no conclusion, satisfaction, or happy ending for any of the characters… and literally h-o-t for its leading actors, Daniel Kaluuya and Lakeith Stanfield. Anyway, if you’re looking to cool down (for whatever reason), check out Happy Ice - a roaming dessert truck created by Philly native Lemeir Mitchell that serves vibrantly colored cups of water ice. From strawberry lemon lush to blueberry blasts, these frozen, dairy-free desserts are perfect for hot days outside, or in the theater.
