Dear Infatuation,
Where can you order a Valentine’s Day special for one? So many of the nice Tock options are for two. Looking for an appropriately decadent meal for the recently single.
Thanks,
Party Of One

Dear Party Of One,
Totally understand your plight - why should delicious surf and turf meals, chocolate cakes, and entire bottles of rosé need to be shared? It’s already frustrating enough that single people are often ignored in cookbooks, and are saddled with double the rent, utility bills, and toilet-unclogging responsibilities if they live alone. Ugh.
For parties of one, Night+Market, just dropped a unique Valentine’s menu, filled with spicy egg duck rolls, uni fried rice, and shrimp green curry that’s available at all three of their locations in Weho, Silver Lake, and Venice. Southern Girl Desserts is offering a variety of specialty cupcakes, cakes, pies, sweet tea, and more that can be shipped nationwide. And if you’re looking for drinks, Downtown LA’s Barcito has released a heart-shaped paper plane cocktail containing Aperol, gin, St. Germain, and a splash of lemon juice for a bright, refreshing glass you’ll be glad to not share with anyone else.
But the ultimate gift to yourself on Valentine’s Day/Single Awareness Day/Hallmark’s Greatest Trick On Society (or whatever you want to call it), comes from Breakup Bar - a to-go-only experience on Melrose Ave. with a walk-up window serving cocktails, wines, sweets, and cheese plates tailor-made just for one.
Also! For our gluten-free girlies (and boy-ies and they-ies), Just What I Kneaded in Atwater Village is making a heart-shaped chocolate ganache cake topped with fresh berries. You have the option to add your own special message in icing, like “I love you, me” or “Do not pick up Trevor’s calls or else.” You know, standard stuff. DM their Instagram to preorder, with pick-ups happening on Saturday and Sunday.
XOXO, The Infatuation LA
