Santo Remedio Shoreditch
Sometimes you simply want to eat carbs after work in a place that’s wrapped in palm print wallpaper and dripping in hanging baskets. Enter Santo Remedio, a Mexican restaurant on Shoreditch’s Great Eastern Street. The low-level lighting and flickering candles will be your best bet to make midweek date night a bit more special among the rowdy after-work crowd, or if you just plan on sitting at the bar and inhaling tostadas like your face is a greedy postbox. These tacos aren’t life-changing but the comfortingly crunchy flautas—fat, crispy cigars of tortilla—and mezcal-heavy cocktails are enough to make you forget that you have to go back to work again in approximately 12 hours.
