Once your eyes adjust to the appallingly dim lighting in Kricket’s corridor-like dining room, you’ll spot the stairs past the row of backs sat at the counter. They lead to a spacious basement room where groups huddle around big tables, and whether it's Tuesday or Saturday, dinner at this sharing plates-style, modern Indian spot in Soho is bound to be buzzy. If you’re after a fun date night, the counter seating is a great place to sit side by side while throwing back citrussy pani puri shots. Although it’s cosy up here, it’s a loud place where your conversation won’t be overheard and will only be interrupted by the friendly bar staff leaning over to ask if you’re done with the excellently crispy Keralan fried chicken. To which you should always answer: we’ll have another round please.
