A Cheese Truck With A Canal-Side Terrace In Paddington, A New Korean Fried Chicken Chain, & More London Restaurant News

The London restaurant news you need to know for the week beginning April 12th, 2021.

When Patty Met Pilgrims

Neapolitan pizza specialists, Pizza Pilgrims, have teamed up with burger experts Patty and Bun to make what they’re calling ’The Patty Pilgrims ‘Burgizza’ Meatball Sub’ meal kit. It’s a combination of the Nduja pizza kit and the Ari Gold burger kit, that makes two huge meatball sandwiches. Order it via their website.

A Cheese Truck Has Parked Up in Paddington

The same people behind The Cheese Bar and Pick and Cheese will be parking up a pop-up truck in Paddington where customers can get grilled cheese sandwiches and natural wines until May 16th. There will also be a canal-side terrace to sit and eat all of the cheese.

A KFC Chain Has Opened in the UK

Pelicana, a Korean fried chicken fast-food chain, had opened in Hammersmith Broadway shopping centre. The KFC specialist will be going London-wide with locations opening in Angel, Wimbledon, and Clapham Junction.

Dining Outside, Drive-Thrus & Divine Intervention

Halfway through reopening week and a small reminder that these 200+ restaurants are taking reservations for their outside spaces. Alternatively you could always stay in your car and get fed some delicious food, as per Cue Point’s drive-thru pop-up. Or, if clasping your hands and looking up to the sky isn’t helping you get a booking, then you may want to have look at our walk-in guide.

Restaurants Are Back Baby!

As mentioned above, part of the government’s roadmap out of lockdown, restaurants are now legally allowed to open for outdoor dining. Find all the details on face coverings, curfews, and proof of vaccination here.

The Standard Hotel: London's Newest Rooftop Dining Spot

Although we’re still processing the fact that high-end, feelgood Mexican spot Decimo can’t reopen until May 17th, there is also some good news from The Standard Hotel. They’re turning their 11th floor rooftop - hello 10/10 views - into a bar, complete with a New York-style hotdog cart. Coming May 1st.

The Legal Fight for Indoor Dining Continues

An expedited High Court case could see restaurants across the UK open for indoor dining before May 17th. The case was brought forward by Greater Manchester’s Night Time Economy Adviser, Sacha Lord - who was responsible for the end of ‘substantial meal’ rules in pubs - arguing that indoor dining poses the same threat level as non-essential shops. He’s called for ‘data not dates’ and ‘fact not fiction’.

Introducing: A New Al Fresco Pizzeria

New restaurant Nebula has opened on Hackney Road. They have a huge courtyard, craft pizza, curated cocktails, and say they do ‘negronis to die for’. A claim we’re very happy to investigate ASAP.

A! Brand! New! Al! Fresco! Wine! Bar!

Dalston has got itself a brand new al fresco wine bar. Slurp Yard is walk-in only, with their full indoor restaurant coming May 17th. All profits go to the Bootstrap Charity, a workspace that aims to provide support for entrepreneurs and free training to locals.
