If you’d like information specific to the U.S., head over to our dedicated page.

If you’ve been a reader for a little while, you know how passionate The Infatuation is about restaurants, pubs, and bars, and if you’re reading this right now, it’s probably safe to assume you are too. The establishments we cover everyday aren’t just places where people go to eat and drink - they’re where friends, family, and co-workers share great moments with each other. It’s easy to take these spaces for granted, but right now the hospitality industry is facing an unprecedented battle. Workers are being made redundant, having their hours and shifts cut, and struggling to see what the future will look like.

In addition to this, the restrictions and closures of other institutions like schools, nurseries, community centres, and soup kitchens have also made it particularly difficult for people to get food right now.

On this page, we’ll be highlighting organisations that are doing some amazing work, and letting you know how you can support those in need by making contributions, donating your time, and helping spread awareness.

Support Restaurants Directly, Purchase Gift Cards, or Buy Merch

There are still a lot of restaurants that are open for delivery and takeaway. If you want to find ones in your city to support, our writers in each city are updating information as quickly as possible. We’re also sharing information via our newsletter which you can sign up for here.

A lot of establishments that can’t provide service right now are offering gift vouchers (some of them discounted) that you can redeem for meals at a later date, so be sure to contact some of your favourite spots about that too.

Alternatively, check to see if any of your favourite restaurants sell merchandise. You can always do with one more tote bag, after all.

Support the Uk With Hospitality Action

Hospitality Action was first established in 1837 and has since supported all levels of worker across restaurants, pubs, bars, cafés, hotels, schools, hospitals and venues. They’ve raised an urgent appeal for donations to their Covid-19 Hospitality Fund, in order to build a significant sum to enable them to make a one-off financial award to workers suddenly facing hardship and unemployment.

To donate, volunteer, or learn more, check out the link below. And, make sure you check in periodically for information on other charities and organisations you can help support.

Support London Restaurant Cooperative

London Restaurant Cooperative is a not-for-profit kitchen of chefs and waiters who are recently unemployed and want to keep working. It’s been set-up by the people behind Le Bab and every day they’ll be cooking and delivering a freshly made meal for £7, with the option to donate a further £4 to give an NHS worker or homeless person a meal.
