Kin Dee might be shoved into the corner of a North Shepherd strip center in The Heights, but it's a solid neighborhood Thai spot. The cocktails and service can be hit or miss sometimes, but the food keeps us coming back. The $42 Khan Tok Platter (served Monday and Tuesday only) with seven different mini dishes is an unbeatable deal for two, plus the golden gilded tray looks gorgeous. We could inhale the stir-fried basil chicken, slice open the fried egg omelet wrapping to reveal nutty pad thai below and feel satisfied every time, and order a personal mango sticky rice for dessert. You might have to send up a road flare to get someone to bring over one of those payment touchscreens at the end of the meal, but Kin Dee makes a great spot for a midweek date night, a casual dinner with friends, or a quick dinner escape whether you live in The Heights or not.
