Auden is a Montrose restaurant from the team behind EaDough Pastries & Provisions that describes itself as “contemporary American.” While the space is certainly beautiful—an oasis of lush greens, soft browns, and warm mood lights—the food is pretty lackluster. Dishes like seared octopus, scallops with roasted corn, and an uneventful harissa chicken all blend together in a lightly seasoned parade. But some things keep it more interesting, like milk buns served with an edible beef tallow candle. On a weeknight when you’re in the mood for a cocktail and an unexciting dinner with R&B bops playing in the background, Auden is a perfectly fine choice.
