We’re always looking to make The Infatuation the best platform to find restaurants, and we appreciate your feedback!

Hi Infatuation reader. With restaurants around the country reopening, we understand that socializing in any form might still feel strange, and poses risks too. Should you go out to eat? That’s up to you. But we’ll continue to keep you informed as best we can. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email us at community@theinfatuation.com.

The Weekly Philadelphia Restaurant Update

The Weekly Philadelphia Restaurant Update

Updated July 10th, 2020

If you want to stay on top of what’s happening with Philly restaurants and bars right now, you’ve come to the right place. Every week, we’ll be keeping track of the latest openings, reopenings, takeout specials, and other exciting or noteworthy updates around the city.

After months of being closed, Philadelphia restaurants have been allowed to reopen with these specific guidelines. Check out Philadelphia Restaurants Reopened For Outdoor Dining for up-to-date info. And for the full list of 400+ restaurants offering takeout and delivery, organized by neighborhood, check out our guide here.

If you have any tips or questions, send us an email at philadelphia@theinfatuation.com.

Week Of july 6th

  • For the first time ever, Pizzeria Beddia is doing delivery. Place an order here.

  • Five blocks of East Passyunk and a half mile of 2nd Street in Northern Liberties were supposed to close this weekend to make room for outdoor dining. But both have sadly been put off due to safety fears.

  • Parks On Tap, which most summers pops up in a new park every two weeks, has two “permanent” homes this year. The first is outside Fairmount Horticulture Center Arboretum, and the newest one (which opens this Friday, July 10th) is at Fairmount Water Works on the Schuylkill.

  • Two new fully outdoor spots have opened: Mexican bar Juno on Spring Garden, and seasonal beer garden The Land on Callowhill. Both are only accepting reservations for the time being, with no walk-in seating available.

  • Tria Taproom on Walnut has opened a pop-up called Joyride Beef & Ale with a full menu of things like wings, french dip sandwiches, and burgers. You can either order online or walk in and eat on their limited sidewalk seating.

  • Alma Del Mar, a.k.a. the seafood restaurant featured on the most recent season of Queer Eye, is finally open for takeout. Options include things like mango salad, salmon burgers, and tres leches pain perdu.

  • One of our favorite spots in the city, Vernick, has started a pizza counter, serving three different wood-fired pies, ice cream, and cocktails starting at noon each day. Order one for pickup here. Their wine shop is also reopened with a new “Chef’s Grocery” section that has spices, condiments, and more.

  • Milk Jawn, a new Philly ice cream company, has started doing online orders and popping up for scoops at coffee shops around the city.

WEEK of june 29th

  • If you haven’t been out to eat yet and are wondering how restaurants are handling their sidewalk and patio seating, check out this photo essay of what outdoor dining looks like around the city.

  • Stock Rittenhouse will be hosting a takeout-only pop-up called Anchor Light for the rest of the summer. They’ll serve mostly lobster rolls (including three different kinds) along with some sides like fries and salads.

  • Indoor dining, which was supposed to come back on July 3rd, has been postponed indefinitely.

  • Zig Zag BBQ, a new fast-casual spot next to Martha in Kensington, opened on Friday, July 3rd.

  • These 90-degree days have us daydreaming about bathing in a tub of water ice. We’ve picked out five of our favorites around the city in our latest guide.

  • Tapas spot Jamonera has turned into Salty’s Seafood & Ice Cream Shack for the summer. They’ll serve things like oysters, peel-and-eat shrimp, lobster rolls, and root beer floats.

  • Closings: South Philly sports bar Toll Man Joe’s had its final day on June 29th.

Week of june 22nd

  • Some of our favorite patios have reopened with new rules, including Evil Genius, Barcelona Wine Bar, and Martha.

  • Fiore Fine Foods has been doing weekly gelato flavors - taking suggestions from their Instagram followers on what combinations they’d like to see. This week’s selections include almond stracciatella, lemon meringue pie, and triple swirl with peanut butter, marshmallow fluff, and fudge. Preorder pints for pickup here.

  • Bao Nine, a fast-casual bao bun spot, opened in Rittenhouse Square on Thursday.

  • Middle Child has a new merch store, and there’s one shirt in particular that we’re huge fans of.

  • There’s been no official announcement yet about when indoor dining will return, but a bunch of restaurants - including Cicala on North Broad - have started taking reservations for their dining rooms beginning July 3rd.

  • Four Callowhill breweries (Love City, Triple Bottom, Yards, and Roy Pitz) have joined forces to create a mega beer garden in the big parking lot next to Love City.

  • Philadelphia’s best sushi spot, Royal Sushi, is finally back with a weekly pop-up series on Friday and Saturday nights for takeout. For more information, head to their chef’s Instagram.

  • Closings: Falafel shop Mama’s Vegetarian closed permanently earlier this week.
