Salazo is a fun, upbeat Mexican spot in Gage Park from the owners of La Josie in the West Loop. It’s a good time, the busy space is filled with friendly servers, small groups, and lively Latin music. As far as the food goes, the menu has a selection of starters like queso fundido with handmade tortillas, tacos (also with handmade tortillas), and entrees like enchiladas and grilled shrimp in a sweet and spicy diabla sauce. The food is fine, but the main reason to come here is to drink margaritas and/or catch up with friends on their large back patio—preferably both.
