Mano Modern Cafe is a small Filipino coffee shop in Noble Square that’s a fine grab-and-go spot. Aside from regular coffee and espresso, they have ube, pandan, and White Rabbit (a milky Chinese candy) lattes—and though they could use a little more flavor, they’re okay. It’s the food that falls a bit flat. Silog bowls come with bland garlic rice and the chicken adobo isn’t that flavorful either. Handhelds like burgers and BBQ pork sandwiches aren’t much better due to fumbles like overcooked patties or buns that get soggy quickly and don’t hold up to the BBQ sauce. If you’re in the area and just need a caffeine fix or a place to work, Mano is okay. But for better Filipino rice plates, check out nearby spots like Uncle Mike’s, Kasama, or Sun Rey Cafe.
