Desert Hawk

A lot of bar food is eaten out of convenience or to cure the “drunchies.” But the food is the main draw at Desert Hawk in Wicker Park. And considering the team behind the menu is from one of our favorite Mexican pop-ups, Taco Sublime, that’s no surprise. Their tacos all come with a layer of fried cheese and well-seasoned proteins (the shrimp is a must-order) and their burgers have flavorful smash patties with perfectly crispy exteriors. The dimly lit, wooden space is small, yet still roomy enough for a group, and they have more space on their sidewalk patio in front.
