It’s Supposed to Rain This Weekend, but You Can Still Eat at These Great Spots Without Getting Drenched:
Bernie’s is one of our favorite rooftops in the city, and they just expanded their awning. So they’ll still be taking reservations even if it rains this weekend, and more importantly, your hair won’t get wet. Also important? They have one of our favorite burgers in Chicago.
Right now Beatnik is allowing diners to eat in their garden room, which qualifies as “outdoor dining” because even though it’s inside, the windows fully open. It looks (and feels) like a hybrid of a ’90s metal ballad and a Wes Anderson film, which makes it a pretty interesting place to drink cocktails and share some small plates.
The partially-covered outdoor area at Frontier will protect you from the elements, which is more than we can say about the poor pioneers that lived on the actual frontier. This Black-owned restaurant is celebrating Juneteenth with $6.19 martinis, and drinking those seems like a great way to spend the weekend.
Summer House keeps a literal “countdown to summer” on their wall, so it’s not surprising they have a covered sunroom that’s open for dining. Coming here can feel depressing in the middle of our 17 months of winter, but it’s perfect in the middle of June.
