Boston has too many places that can’t decide whether they want to be a bar or a restaurant. The Ghost Walks in the weird /Downtown/Chinatown/Theater District nexus is one of them. It’s kind of a cocktail bar, kind of a club, and kind of a restaurant with a small menu of basic American food. Whatever it is, it’s definitely the only place that we know of that has a champagne vending machine. If you don’t mind hanging out somewhere a little gimmicky, it’s not a bad spot to grab some drinks before heading to a show.

Saloon is a speakeasy in Davis Square that’s so dark you might fall asleep in there (though probably not if it’s burlesque night).
Field and Vine
Field and Vine is a very good American restaurant in Union Square where you kind of get the idea that the owners spend a lot of time at farms.
Better Sorts Social Club
Better Sorts is a Downtown Boston cocktail bar with great cocktails, trippy deer portraits on the wall, and couches to take it all in.
