The Baxter seems intent on bringing the groovy ’70s-era Venice Beach culture to the Eastside BeltLine. Their retro menu font and headings like Foxy Cocktails, Hip Handhelds, and Helter Seltzers—plus the array of skateboards and surfboards lining the walls—are a fun transport away from the normal scenes around the BeltLine. We’ll see if good vibes and housemade seltzers are enough to help The Baxter break its address curse (it’s in the space formerly occupied by Cold Beer and then the short lived Slabtown Public House). But we think the tasty Baxter burger and massive sandwiches like the Godfather Grinder piled high with four meats will help their cause.
