Sitting next to Sweet Auburn Barbecue, this second location of Soul Vegetarian has been a long-cherished staple in the Poncey-Highland neighborhood and is our area go-to when we want a plant-based meal. Soul Veg veterans come in looking past the slightly underwhelming dining area with bright green plastic chairs and an old refrigerator display case that could use a makeover. And new visitors should too because, luckily, the food doesn’t need to undergo any type of revamp. The vegan mac and cheese stays creamy and the Garvey Burger made of wheat roast and served on a wheat sesame seed bun is as good as the OG location.
