La Med does a serious takeout operation, but it’s a good option if you actually want a place to sit and eat as well, provided you are OK with said place not being too fancy. The pomegranate chicken is our favorite, and getting some dips and pita is one of the better ways to start a meal.
Despite the hit-or-miss menu, Little Gem is an amazingly pleasant place to eat in Hayes Valley.
RT Rotisserie, with a short menu starring roast chicken and cauliflower, is a great spot for a casual dinner in Hayes Valley.
Blue Barn is a counter-service spot in Russian Hill that makes solid salads and sandwiches.
Chubby Noodle in the Marina is our go-to in the neighborhood for a good time and even better food. We occasionally dream about the pork tacos.
