Many of the best places to grab cheong fun in Chinatown are street carts or takeout specialists—spots like Yi Ji Shi Mo and Sun Hing Lung. But if you want to sit in a bright room, place your order with a server, and supplement your cheong fun with a big bowl of congee, try the Bayard Street location of Guangzhou-based chain Yin Ji Chang Fen. The rice rolls here are thick and sticky, with a melt-in-your-mouth texture that works especially well with a heavy drizzle of peanut sauce. Choose from over 15 fillings like shrimp and pork liver, and always get a side of the curry fish balls that are a little sweet, a little spicy.
