Walk up the main staircase at the Freehand Hotel, and you’ll find a second-floor lounge that feels like the home of a person who’s trying to get featured in the New York Times Style Magazine. To the right of the lounge, there’s a bar, and to the left, there’s an all-day restaurant called Studio. This, too, is a heavily-designed space, with fur blankets draped over couches, a bunch of fancy light fixtures, and some big booths from which you can look out at the room and try to count how many people you recognize from their online dating profiles. Expect a crowd of mostly young adults, and stop by for a meal with a client or a group dinner with friends when you need a place where you can wear the expensive hat you just bought. The food is a mix of American, Middle Eastern, and Mediterranean, and there are things like Turkish dumplings, white bean hummus, and a burger with harissa.
