Your eyes do not deceive you. That machine you see behind the counter at Jefe Tacos is, in fact, an industrial-sized molino. We imagine it was tough getting that thing into the basement food court that is Downtown Brooklyn’s DeKalb Market Hall, and we appreciate the effort. It produces some very fine masa, used to make soft and chewy housemade corn tortillas. Take them for a test drive with a carne asada quesadilla or a pollo asado volcan. This grab-and-go spot also has a few seafood options, like a ceviche tostada, but don’t get distracted from the main event: their al pastor taco with exceptionally crispy, thinly sliced meat.
