Fabby's Sandwicherie
Included In
Fabby’s Sandwicherie is a small sandwich counter in Downtown that makes exceptional tortas with chewy Jalisco-style birotes and fillings that sound plucked from a French bistro. From noon to midnight, you can walk into this tiny, nondescript spot on Broadway, sit at one of the few tables, and enjoy a margarita and beef tartare tostada while your sandwich sizzles on the press. This isn’t a quick grab-and-go situation, but these luxurious tortas are worth planning a meal around. There’s six sandwiches to choose from, and our favorite is the beef bourguignon torta, filled with wine-braised short rib, creamy mashed potatoes, and melted oaxacan cheese that glues it together. It’s as as rich snacking on a stick of butter, but the pickle-y carrot and onion escabeche tucked inside add some needed zippiness.
