Cardinale du Vin
Cardinale Du Vin is a simple, barebones wine bar in Pico-Robertson where you can eat a hot dog with your glass of red. The food menu is short, but everything on it, including that hot dog, is quite good (it comes on a toasted brioche bun, with a sprinkle of crispy shallots and punchy dijon mustard). Come here to chit-chat with a friend at the bar, split a sub-$40 bottle of gamay, and snack on things like trout roe dip with potato chips, or a delicious brie and prosciutto panini with jammy onion butter spilling out the sides. CDV isn’t a scene or some place to plan a night around, but it works fine for when you want a snack, good wine, and a reason to leave the house that doesn't feel like a chore.
